The House Of Mercy & Encouragement Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to faithfully providing mental health and educational services to children and their families that encourage caring, compassion, and a sense of well being in a welcoming and comfortable environment.
MISSION STATEMENT: HOME is a faith-based provider of mental health and learning services for children and their families regardless of color, race, religion or socio-economic status.
HISTORY: The seed of the House of Mercy and Encouragement began with the providence of God on June 24, 2005 when our son, Timothy Mortimer and his cousin, Michael Celidonio, our Godson, were tragically killed in a car accident. Being a mental health counselor, and seeing my own son consumed by depression during his adolescent and young adult years, God put upon my heart to do something in remembrance of the boys to help others. I have worked for over 30 years with children with disabilities and mental health problems and my sister, Michael’s Mom, has dedicated over 20 years of her professional life teaching severe emotionally disturbed children. It only seemed natural to do something to help other parents to cope with their children who exhibit emotional, educational and mental health problems by offering a variety of support through counseling, family therapy, play therapy, tutoring, behavior management, and social skills programs that will help children to function at their optimal level. So the birth of a wellness center for children evolved called the House Of Mercy and Encouragement. The acronym HOME is fitting as we want to welcome all who seek help by providing comfortable, nurturing environment.
